Roadtripping through Portugal was one of my favorite travel experiences, mostly because I had no expectations from that country. I also spent a whole week in Lisbon, walking alone through tiny side-streets, making friends with the waiter of a vegetarian restaurant, speaking in broken Portuguese and hand gestures.
