I did a photo-session with a violinist named Katja yesterday; I had never met her before and also had no idea what she looked like. As there were no big specifications on what kind of photos she needed and as the shoot was organised on really short notice, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s always interesting to see how people change in front of the camera lens and how, as time passes, they are more and more relaxed. Here’s a couple of shots we selected.

I go to a lot of concerts. I just think live music is wonderful. And sometimes, I take pictures. yes.

I think food is one of the best things in the world. I really, really like baking and feeding people cake. Have you read Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto? No? You should.
The greatest thing about baking a lot is that I get to experiment with food styling, colors, and sometimes even props.

I found a bunch of slides (which, incidentally, I’ve promised for months to archive…) this morning before I left in a rush to go hang out in a semi-studio to practice/work/brainstorm on a secret project. I played around a lot with an (analog) synth and slides. SLIDES! I want to work with slides again so bad. that shall come, eventually. stay tuned.

Buzz Kiefer is a musician from Nashville who found himself stranded in Vienna for over 40 days. We got together on a rainy Monday afternoon and did a spontaneous photoshoot..

Earlier this year, I did a really fun shoot with the Neues Atelier Ensemble. Since they are a contemporary classical musical ensemble, we were trying to go for a conventional/unconventional look. We picked an urban graffiti-ed location, and they were advised to arrive in formal clothing. It was cold cold cold, so I had to get them jumping to keep them warm..

I started collecting pictures of the beds I have slept in years ago. I don’t sleep much, but at the same time I can fall asleep pretty much everywhere. I’ve slept on buses, on trains, at airports, in my friends’ beds, outside, in tents, on floors and couches. This is a recollection of some of these moments, and a constant work in progress.

Yes, I’ve been quite busy with bread-making these days. It started right after Christmas, when I found myself spending way too much time at home – it was cold outside and a lot of friends were away on holiday. So I stayed in with my books and my boiling hot cup of green tea. My first try at making bread this season was a white bread with fragrant herbes de provence and soft, pitted green olives. I then moved onto Walnut bread, bread with cumin, with estragon, and finally: carrot and cumin wholewheat bread rolls, which I just got out of the oven an hour ago.
